Top 10 American Science Fiction Movies
Inception (2010)
Being one of last year's most awaited movies, Inception ( 2010) was expected to be a hit and crash the Box-office. The Director Christopher Nolan had put his best on the making of the movie ; the plot was somewhat confusing and very complex with a lot of actions going on at the same time. At some scenes, it got the whole audince confused staring at each others, looking for answers. Inception (2010) is the kind of movie that requires the audience to use their brains unlike most movies that do not demand that much attention and you can just seat back and turn off yoour brain.
In my opinion Inception (2010) must be considered the greatest Science Fiction of all time. Every part of the film is just perfect, the storytelling, the plot, the acting, the visual effects, it simply has it all.
Avatar (2009)
Considered by plenty as the best movie ever made, Avatar (2009) stands as the highest-grossing movie of all time. Director James Cameron had kept the script of the film for more than a decade but had not started filming the movie until 2005 brcause he felt that the techonlogy had not caught up with the story and vision that he wanted to tell. In late 2005 he decided to start working on the script, he developed a new culture for the Na'vi ( the movie's aliens). Cameron used photorealitic computer-generated characters, created using new motion-capture animation technologies. The Pandora environment is extremely realistic, the methods of capturing the facial expressions and moves made by the actors was improved.
Jurassic Park (1993)
When Jurassic Park came out in 1993 everybody, from critics to children were all very impressed by the visual effects implemented by Steven Spielberg in the movie. Dinosaurs on screen had never been seen before and the quality of the critures was ridiculous. The scene whene T-Rex attacks the Tour car is still stuck on my mind. I was only 5 years old when I saw the movie for the first time. I was so scared by that scene that I did not even finish watching the rest of the movie.
2012 (2009)
2012 ( Roland Emmerich) is to be considered one of the best disaster movies ever made the other two being The Day After Tommorow (2004) and Independance Day (1996) , both also directed by Emmerich. Even though the movie was not realesed in 3D viewing its picture was amazing and very realistic.
The scene when the earth starts cracking and the main actors run towards an airplane while every thing else crashed down was breathtaking and shows the high quality of the movie's advanced visual effects and techniques.
Matrix (1999)
The visual effects implemented in Matrix (1999) were revolutionary and completely changed the making of Science Fiction movies. The film is known for popularizing the use of a visual effect known as "bullet time", which allows the viewer to explore a moment progressing in slow-motion as the camera appears to orbit around the scene at normal speed.
In my opinion Matrix is one of the best action movies ever made and is definitely on the top 5 of the best science fiction films of all time. The slow motion shooting scenes seen in Matrix (1999) are outstanding and unforgettable.
War of The Worlds (2005)
This 2005 American science fiction movie adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel of the same name was Steven Spielberg, the only director with two movies in the top ten. The movie received excellent reviews from the critics who praised the innovator visual effects used by Spielberg.
Frankenstein (1931)
Frankenstein (1931) is the oldest movie in the list and the only Horror film in my top ten best Science Fiction Movies of all time. This movie released in the early 30's was so well praised that it give place to two sequels. Being one the first monster in the big screen, the monster of Frankenstein portrayed by Boris Karloff became a popular character and still appear in many spin-offs and cartoons of the original film.
AVP - Alien vs Predator (2004)
AVP - Alien vs Predator (2004) directed by Paul W. S. Anderson the director of Resident Evil was a commercial success and of the highest grossing movies of 2004 but was very criticized by the critics. Still it is one of my all time favorite movies. a sequel to the Predator films and prequel to the Alien series Alien vs Predator followed the success of the two franchises.
Terminator II- The Judgement Day (1991)
Terminator - The Judgment Day (1991) was a significant box office and critical success. It had an impact on popular culture, and is considered hugely influential in the genres of action and science fiction. It is one of James Cameron's two movies in the list ( the other being avatar)
Iron Man (2008)
The Only super hero movie in the list, Iron Man (2008) stands as being the best reviewed Marvel movies. The visual effects used to create the flying scenes and the outstanding performance by the cast makes Iron Man (2008) one of the best Science Fiction movies of all time.
